Birmingham Real Estate: You've Got Options: I've Gotta Give Props to These Newbies 'Cause They're Kicking up Dust in the Rain

I've Gotta Give Props to These Newbies 'Cause They're Kicking up Dust in the Rain

I've Gotta Give Props to These Newbies 'Cause They're Kicking up Dust in the Rain (30DC19)

I just browsed back through July and August to see who had joined AR and most importantly who appeared as if they had staying power.  There are so many more and I'll get to them, but these few just shot darts at my forehead as I scrolled through the list.

Emmary Nicholson

My main man Craig Daniels is blogging with a vengeance.  Craig is a natural at simplifying seemingly complicated processes.  His step by step approach has gained him a fast and furious following.  Great job Craig.  You da man.

Next up:  Emmary Nicholson.  Once the AR family gave Emmary Nicholson some topics to talk about, she became determined that she was in this blogging thing to win it.  She learned quickly that list go over really well and hence her 365 Things to Do in Southern NM was born.

Peggy BouchardThen there's Peggy Noel Bouchard (left). She's been consistent and we can get a feel for how she approachLisa Hickses task.  Her post are short and sweet but the messages don't escape us."  She says what she has to say and then she's done with it.

Lisa Hicks (right) is a Newbie too.  She's taken on the 30 Day Challenge (30DC) and she's tagged herself "Unstoppable Woman."  She's a woman on a mission.  The 30DC is not a walk in the park.  It's HARD  even for me and Lisa kind of tuckered out around Day 10 but Day 11 proved she was not to be defeated.

Barbara Chatterton

Barbara Chatterton of Middleton has taken on the challenge also.  She's kind of the voice of reason to me.  Her post are filled with the little hints and tips that buyers and sellers tend to leave off of their to do list come moving time.  If you ask me she's a practical kind of gal. Somebody's got to do it and that's probably what makes Barbara's service so valuable.  There's got to be somebody in the room to make sense of things.

Honorable mentions goes to Scott Hayes (right) and Christine Pappas (lower left) .  That darned Scott just puts me in mind ofScott Hayes a kid who was born grown.  I don't know how old he is, but he looks much younger than me and in which case I keep thinking "this kid is wise beyond his years."  Regardless of his age, his thoughtful and thought provoking posts are what counts around here.  He's turned out to be a feature post magnet.

Christine PappasChristine on the other hands comes of as being spunky (her picture reflects that too.  But I want to mention Christine as an Old Newbie because starting back in January 2010, she would post something here or there.  But beginning in August 2010 he came back, so to speak, and she's been whipping out post ever sense.  Seems Christine probably wished she had been as diligent the first time around, but hey, it's never to late to come play in the rain.

There are certainly others like Debbie GarnerSteve and Carol DavisJack Mosmann.  The one thing I'm hoping more than anything is that they are here for the long haul.  I hope that they see the value in being here.  Although it took me a while to realize that value, I just kept plugging away hoping someday it would pay off and holy cow, has it.

Wow!  I've subscribed to several of these folks blogs and never realized they were new!  As a newer-then-them-newbie, I'm shocked because I thought they were oldbies!  :)  As someone new to AR, I really appreciate it when people point out such quality contributors.  I'm always worried I'll miss out on the good stuff and posts like this help make sure that doesn't happen!  Time to add some subscriptions!

Posted by Gayla Worrell, Real Estate Webworks (Windermere Real Estate/Everett, Inc.) over 8 years ago

Gayla just as I suspected:  You may be addicted to ActiveRain.  I just checked out some of your post.  You're on a roll here.  Good job and you've caught on quickly.  Me, I was a little slow as a Newbie and sometimes I feel like I'm just getting up to speed.  Welcome to ActiveRain.

I discovered Emmary a few days ago and subscribed.  I lived in Las Cruces, NM and love to revisit through her blog!

What a lovely post.  And, thank you so much for the honorable mention.  That is so sweet.  I've been subscribing to several of these, and thank you in particular for the comment on my blog a while on Scott, as I subscribed to him just because of you and now I feel like we are good buddies.  I subscribe to several of these, and just like Gayla I didn't realize they were new.  Emmary and I shared a training class last week, so that was cool.

Laura isn't Emmary pretty cool.  Right from the start she's been very excited.

Debbie, the friendships are the icing on the cake.  To be honest with you, it wasn't until I had finished this post that I actually realized that you had not been around as long as I thought.  Some people seem to just naturally blend in and I guess that's why you didn't come to mind at the start.  I sure appreciate you.

Thanks Michelle and by the way, I really enjoyed your post the other day: Open Letter to Buyers..."  I actually still consider myself a Newbie as well (at least until I reach my one year anniversary in December.

Charita - You are so sweet.  Yes, I've just been here 2 months (+8 or 9 days) + the day I originally joined in Feb (but I didn't really start until July which was the day I returned).

I came back here because I was going to reblog this and recommend my subscribers subscribe to you as well as some of the featured ones here.  But, apparently there's no option to reblog (I think since it's a members only post, but not sure).

And, yes, the friendships are great.  I'm going to try to blog about that soon...but not enough time now to do that correctly.

Posted by Debbie Gartner, The Flooring Girl & Blog Stylist -Dynamo Marketers (The Flooring Girl) over 8 years ago

Hey Charita.  You joined just a few months before me.  I joined in February.  Thanks for the newbie blog.

Debbie there are so many people really that I'd like to pay tribute too.  Thank goodness there is draft mode because that's another post that I just need to let stew so that it's perfect and just.

Paula I was on your blog the other day and I was like "wow" Paula joined after me and she has been one committed blogger (through both trials and triumphs).  That's what I call inspiration and you are that to me:  an inspiration.  Thanks.

Barbara when I started writing the post, I actually had to double check to make sure that they were as new as I thought they were.  It just seems that some of them had been here just as long as I have (which isn't saying much, but it just seems like I've been here forever).

I'm honored to be included on Charita's List. I've subscribed to a few of these Activerainers and will look in to the others. See, that is the beauty of the site. You can miss something, or someone for a few weeks or months, and then a post like this alerts you to look.

Two months ago, I officially turned that over the hill age. So I'm just going to go with the kid thing as long as you will let me :)

Craig this 30 day challenge is tougher than I thougt it would be so my hat's off to all who are taking part and seeing it through to the end.  There's a reason they call it "Active" Rain.

You're welcome Steve.  The real difference between Facebook and AR is that you feel like you "belong" here instead of a fish out of water on Facebook.

Morgan understand where you're coming from.  If being the cheerleader for the Newbies will keep them motivated and coming back, then a cheerleader I am.

Posted by Charita Cadenhead, Serving Jefferson and Shelby Counties (Alabama) (Keller Williams Realty) over 8 years ago

Jeanna I think you're doing a fantastic job.  If you are on Day 11 then I know you can make it to the end and once you do that "it's on" girl.

Philip it's almost as if you can see the glare from the monitor in Linda's face. I'm willing to bet you that no one would have ever caught that computer gaze.

Gosh Charita!  I am so excited I made the list!!!  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!  This is really cool.  Yes, you are correct, I wish I had stuck to it in the beginning, I had stage fright, always second guessing myself about what I was going to write, my friend Roger has kicked me into gear and I am on the 30 day challenge to see to it.  And thanks for putting me in such good company (and cute too!)  LOL!  And I am interacting now too, which I was too nervous to do before.

Awesome post, Charita! I follow some of them and thought they were anything but newbies! Wow, Charita - how do you find time for everything! You tracked down that these awesome members with wonderful blogs are NEW! (I was sure Scott was an "oldie" - on AR of course, he does look young)

Posted by Anna Tolstoy (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage) over 8 years ago

Nice list, and thanks for pointing out some members that I have missed.  Scott is over 50??  I can't believe that!  ('Cause that's "over the hill" for me! HA HA HA)  Nice remember to go through the list of new members to see who is displaying "staying power"  These are the members that should be encouraged the most.  Nice post Charita!

Posted by Carla Muss-Jacobs, RETIRED (RETIRED / State License is Inactive) over 8 years ago

Anna I wouldn't say that I "find" time, I have to "make" time.  You know when you start seeing new faces on your blogs, their presence is an invitation in itself.  So I just visit.

Carla "these are the members that should be encouraged the most." -I totally agree with that.  Yeah he's over the hill.   Hey, I was excited about getting that AARP card.  We get all the perks. As always Carla, thanks.  And a big thank you for helping me with embedding Google maps.  I never, ever would have figured that one out.

Jamey and Dennis you could close your eyes, point your finger towards the screen and any AR member that you pointed to would be more than happy to help.  Besides who better to inspire other Newbies than a Newbie.

Ruthmarie you're right, some are still getting warmed up, but I giving these Newbie an "E" for effort.  I remember being "green" in the beginning and now I can look back and see how much I've grown and will continue to grow. I'm keeping an eye out for you.

J & J you're going to be pretty busy for a minute.  Once you start surfing around you know how hard it can be to stop.

Charita,

You are everywhere. How do you find the time to Blog, search newbies, sell house. I bet you have a big family also. Women who usually get everything done are the most busiest!

Charita - You are so extremely generous!  I had no idea these were "newbies" as I still feel like a "newbie" myself.   I love your energy, and have been exchanging comments with several of the folks that you listed above already.    They are all so great!

Robert, I am "virtually" everywhere.  That's the beauty of it all isn't it.

  • Blogging: who says anything about finding time.  I have to make time for it.
  • Newbies:  On the contrary, they found me.  I just thanked them for it.
  • Sell houses (and manage properties):  It's what I do.  Gotta eat.
  • Family:  Actually not so big.  If that were the case, things would probably be different.

Thanks Doreen.  It's very easy to get accustomed to only reading post from our subscription list.  Sometimes we've got to mix it up a bit to add more spice and variety.

Dagny thank you.  I'm still a newbie too.  I'll be 1 year old in December.  I'm sure that the newer Newibies are glad that you made contact with them and so am I.

That's really nice of you to spotlight these newbies and encourage them to keep at it!  Good luck on your 30 day challenge too!

Charita--Aren't you a sweetheart??!!  There is nothing like being complemented and showcased when you are new to give you encouragement and inspriation to continue.  I would say you can count yourself at least partly responsible for their success on the Rain!!

The more the merrier! There is always room for more newbies. Spread the word to all Realtor friends. Perhaps because of all the great AR information shared we will have the entire Realtor world informed and elevating our profession.  Great Post! Thank you!

Thanks Pat.  Everyone can use a little encouragement sometimes.

Lynn wouldn't that be nice.

What a great idea for a post, to recognize others who are doing a great job here on AR. Thanks for the idea s I plan to do something similar on another site.

Newest of the new, here, and want to say what a great community, with our super accolades by folks like Charita.  My husband and I bought and sold houses with great agents in Virginia, but after layoffs and my husband's pronouncement, "I don't want to die in DC," we moved him home to NY in Westchester County.  We're a vendor, Servpro of Scarsdale / Mount Vernon, but were able to save some closings for our realtor clients in a final walk through after a THREE MONTH wait for the lawyers' "billable hours" and got the mold out so the deals could move forward.  Plan to blog on how to save those far and few between closings with a little help from fire/water/mold pros soon.  Thanks for the inspirations, all!

Hillary welcome to AR and thank you.  I'm not sure I've heard from a lot of vendors so it will be nice having you around.  I'm a bit on the run right now, but I'll check out your blog when I return.  There have been several post lately about mold concerns so any input you can provide on that would be much needed and appreciated.
