Birmingham residents want to know what's for dinner?
And I don't mean in their own kitchens. Birmingham restaurants are answering the call and ringing the dinner bells in the form of new restaurants. The Birminhgam News reported in the Sunday edition that Americans are easing up on the purse strings and are slowly making their way back into dining out. For new restaurants recently opened in the Metro Birmingham area, that is music to their ears.
Among the line up of restaurant newbies are:
Pizza Express is serving up gourmet pizza (located on Hwy 280).
Papa Murphy's Take and Bake pizza restaurant is in Hoover and Homewood and will launch another at the Summit in the fall.
According to the article, pizza has been a mainstay throughout the recession.
New Homewood Restaurant: Urban Cookhouse boasts of meats cooked over wood and charcoal and supports our farmers by using fresh local vegetables.
There seems to be a revival in the yogurt market and Mountain Brook in the new home of Yogurt Mountain, while Vestavia Hills plays host to Yogurt Lab.
Be on the lookout for 32 degrees (a yogurt chain) soon to be nestled in the fine shoppes of The Summit and Crestline Village.
As it turns out, Birmingham may well prove to be a mecca for entreprenurial restauranteurs.
Want to know what's for dinner? Take your pick.
